Where We Came From
A friendship over BBQ, blues, college football, and whisky brought Mike Fernandez, Ben Gilbert, and Jeff Kennedy together at the University of Alabama. In 1988, Mike learned fire-roasting meats from Moses Day in Tuscaloosa, inspiring Moe’s Alabama-style BBQ. Using fruitwood and dual sauces, the trio grew from catering out of a fire pit to a concession trailer, eventually refining their craft in Vail, Colorado. The story plays on.
